Winter

In December, Quedlinburg presents itself as one of Germany’s most attractive Christmas towns. The central Christmas market is open throughout December. As of late, Quedlinburg aquired fame as one of Germany’s highlights during the Christmas season because of an “Advent in the Courtyards” held during the first, second and third advent weekends. Scores of private courtyards then welcome visitors to private Christmas markets held in collaboration with local and regional artists and artisans who offer their range of originally designed and crafted products, often of high quality and value.

During Winter, on Quedlinburg’s outskirts and in the nearby Harz Mountains (just twenty minutes by regular bus-services from Quedlinburg) the traditional range of snow-sports are available, especially sledging and Nordic skiing, and – a Harz tradition – outings on comfortable horse-drawn sledges through the densely-forested Harz.
